Idesco's technology nominated for Intertraffic Innovation Award 2006
Idesco has been nominated for the Intertraffic Innovation Award 2006 with the upcoming passive UHF reader IR 9000. The IR 9000 reader operates on 869 MHz frequencies and it is able to read small RFID-tags without battery from a distance of several meters.
This reader is an ideal solution for automated vehicle identification in parking applications. IR 9000 reader and a small tag on a car's windshield can easily manage parking areas and exiting and incoming vehicles. The reader recognizes tags also on the windshield of a moving car, so that drivers do not even need to stop for identification.
As the IR 9000 is based on passive UHF RFID technology, it offers many benefits over active UHF (ultra high frequency) technologies or passive LF (low frequency) and HF (high frequency) technologies. Compared to active RFID technology, the problem with limited lifetime of the tag is eliminated, as the tag operates without any battery power. Compared to the currently available passive LF (low frequency) and HF (high frequency) solutions, the archived reading distance is with passive UHF-technology several times longer. Also the size of the UHF-reader antennas and UHF-tags are much smaller that in LF and HF solutions.
The IR 9000 follows Idesco's previous IR 8000 UHF reader. The IR 9000 has one build in antenna and an option for up to 3 external antennas, which enables multiple reading directions by the same reader.
Idesco will demonstrate the IR 9000 during the Intertraffic exhibition in Amsterdam (4 th -7 th April 2006) at stand Nr. 03.118 . During the Intertraffic Idesco will also hold a seminar about the topic “New passive long-distance technology to replace active tags” on 4 th April form 14.45 to 15.15 in seminar room II.
