Finland’s Kuopio Prison deploying Idesco access control solutions
Idesco was recently chosen by the Kuopio Prison in Finland to supply its access control readers during the renovation and expansion project of its prison building. Construction of the new building has been completed and renovation of the old complex will follow during the next few months. System provider Niscayah Oy will maintain its role as installer of these systems through the renovation phase as well. Idesco’s products have acquired a reputation for durability and reliability for, over the past twenty years the national Criminal Sanctions Agency has purchased thousands of Idesco readers and tags for nearly every closed prison in Finland.
Idesco® Installation and Shield Plates Make a BIG Difference
Thinking of installing an Idesco® reader on either a metal wall or opposite an electrical device on the other side of the wall? Easily done using Idesco’s Installation Plates and Shield Plates!
Separating your reader from a metal wall with an Idesco® Installation Plate ensures your reader’s effective range. Manufacturers frequently neglect to tell customers that electromagnetic eddy currents created in metal walls by RFID readers can be strong enough to actually degrade a reader’s range (see illustration).
However, buffering your reader from those metal walls with an Idesco® Installation Plate eliminates this problem. Additionally, when installing a reader over a previous device site, your Idesco® Installation Plate covers any unsightly holes or stains left behind by the old device.
Eqally important, always determine if any electrical devices are mounted on the immediate opposite of any non-insulating surfaces (e.g. concrete, wood walls or doors, etc.) before installing your Idesco® reader. If such devices are present, install an Idesco® Shield Plate underneath your reader to protect it from interference from the other device. You might also choose to place a plastic installation plate directly underneath your Idesco® reader to protect against any eddy current interference from the Shield Plate.

Idesco’s Sales Team is excited to welcome Mr. Håkan Ljungquist to their ranks. As many of you already know, Håkan has joined Thore Wahlin in Stockholm to accelerate our pursuit of promising market opportunities in their country. What some of you may not know is that Håkan, with a Business Degree from IHM Business School in Gothenburg, also brings 15 years of much appreciated experience in Access Control & Security and 20 years in sales. Idesco Oy is delighted with the return of Mari Kauppinen from her recent maternity leave. Mari is returning to her communication coordinator duties, partnering with Idesco’s Anthony Rice-Perttunen, Idesco’s Web, E-Media and News Designer, doubling Idesco’s resources in Marketing.
